TMD: Arthroscopy could have been done to "clean out" the jaw joint, remove extra inflamed tissue, old scar tissue. What you are describing is usually related to a forward placed cartilage disc, due to stretched out ligaments. When this occurs, the jaw rotates and translates until the disc "snaps" back into position between the head of the joint and the fossa (area of skull where it rests).
