What?: I can't believe you have to wait a month to see the orthodo doctor when you have a fracture. I hope you have a cast.

Carpal fracture: Emergency dept doc should be able to splint wrist or, if not, call in orthopedic specialist to do it. Fracture of some carpal bones require special attention to prevent part of the bone from dying due to interrupted blood supply; x-rays should show if this may be the case & make treatment more urgent.

COnsult: I would not be waiting 30 days unless this is an insignificant carpal fracture. If this is a scaphoid / navicular, lunate or capitate fracture, you need to be seen sooner. In the meantime, elevate, ice and rest your hand. Hopefully it is splinted and protected.
