Index finger pain: Isolated pain in just the index finger of one hand is not very common. Arthritis, especially where one's work involves repetitive tasks using that finger can do it. Chronic tendonitis of the flexor tendors for the finger can do it. Sometimes this results in what is called a 'trigger finger' where on flexing and extending, it seems to get stuck some times. A cortisone shot might help either.
