Nerve blocks: Nerve blocks in the neck are a godsend, with almost complete relief in some people, and no effect in others. It is still worth a try because it is far safer than surgery. The effects when it is beneficial can last for months to years. If necessary they can be repeated. Sometimes it takes up to 3 iniitial injections to have an effect; additional injects can be performed after 6-12 months.

Controversial: Current recommendations are against cervical root injections because of the incidence of paralysis. Cervical epidural injections are much safer and can give you significant relief depending on the underlying issue.
