Method of testing: Imaging studies like MRI just reflect the big picture of the hidden parts of your body while studies analyzing nerve and muscle function like EMG are much more specific to what is exactly happening to these tissues. Microscopic examination of tissue samples (biopsies) is even more specific

I had an mri done of my cervical spine. If there is compression of the nerves that exit out between the c5-c6 cervical spine can that effect the tricep muscles or cause denervation of the tricep muscles?

Can a needle EMG showing bilateral c3 C4 C5 denervation be false positive? for example if a patient is anxious and is unconciously tensing muscles due to fear - could this affect measurements?
