could a cervical facet nerve block take pain away forever?

Potentially yes.: Facet block is by and large a diagnostic tool but can be therapeutic as well. Commonly however the pain is rarely gone forever and will come back. If however facet pain is established as a diagnosis( this being the prime reason for the block in the first place), treatment options do exist that allow for long periods( months) of good pain relief to be experienced.

Consider RFA: Facet Nerve Blocks provide temporary pain relief since they are diagnostic injections generally. Radiofrequency Ablation is a procedure that eliminates the nerve to these facet joint and can give you up to 1-2 years of pain relief.
