Cervical spondylosis: The durability of a facet joint injection is variable and up to three injections can be performed in one year. A radiofrequency rhizotomy (burning the nerve) can add longer lasting relief. The injection of a local anesthetic in the facet joint is performed to establish the source of neck pain. A steroid is added to the injection to provide a longer lasting therapeutic anti-inflammatory effect.
