Yes: By itself, a psa of 0.9 in a 58 year old man implies a very low (but not zero) risk for the development of clinically significant prostate cancer based on population analyses. In conjunction with a normal rectal exam, this is good news indeed. It is reasonable to consider reducing the frequency of psa testing going forward with rectal exam as a regular part of routine care. Discuss this with md.
