See below.: There are various surgical options when it comes to pilonidal cyst excision. In all, the entire cyst is removed. The wound is either closed with sutures, or is left to heal on its own over time. All patients should be informed that the wound healing process is notoriously slow, and often incomplete. Close follow up is needed. Recurrences are not uncommon. Ultimately however, the disease is cured.
