What pain meds are given for pilonidal cyst surgery?

Narcotics: Usually simple or basic narcotics such as hydrocodone or oxycodone. Other non-narcotic medications could be a short trial of toredol.

Many are effective: Like any surgery that involves the skin and subcutaneous tissue alone, many pain meds are effective: oral opiates are often given for the first few days after surgery, but can have side effects including nausea, vomiting, and constipation. Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen are often employed after the first few days. These last may be superior in relieving pain from local tissue swelling.
