Understand panic: The more you understand what panic is and normalize the experience the earlier you will be able to cope with it. Deep abdominal breathing helps as well as understanding thoughts surrounding it . www.nimh.nih.gov has good information which will help you. Google abdominal breathing and practice for 15 min three times a day. Your therapist/psychiatrist will help you with those techniques too.

Panic attacks or D/O: Panic attacks happen within the context of all anxiety disorders including panic d/o, generalized anxiety d/o, ptsd, social anxiety disorder...Etc. So depending on the underlying cause , treatment is slightly different. So getting an evaluation by a specialist in anxiety helps, the ccbt iis very helpful in teaching you coping after helping u understanding some of the underlying trigger thoughts.
