Post nasal: Post nasal drip often leads to continued cough after an acute viral illness. You may need nasal steroids plus afrin for three. Days plus saline rinses plus a nasal decongestant.

For a month and a half having tightness in the chest everyday and every other day a cough that will only stop once I bring up all the yellow phlegm. I've been on prednisone and antibiotics and nothing has helped. Only the inhaler bring phelgm out.
