Not good idea.: Don't need to resort to injection! bug bites will usually respond nicely to oral antihistamines such as Loratadine or fexofenadine without the drowsiness of benadryl (diphenhydramine). Topically you may use Benadryl (diphenhydramine) cream and mid range potency steroids. Pharmacist should be able to point you in the right direction.

No: I would consider another therapy. Topical low potency steroid cream (over the counter hydrocortisone) or oral antihistamines to help the itch. Injection into your skin is painful and may lead to infection.
