Hydrocortisone: An otc cream like cortisone 10 would be better, as topical Benadryl (diphenhydramine) often causes allergic reactions in some patients. I personally never recommend Benadryl (diphenhydramine) cream or those sticks because of it.

Yes: There are multiple over the coutner anti-itching creams and gels. Any of them should work. You can take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) pills but they may make you sleepy.
