Usually OK: Modest intake of alcohol has been shown to improve cardiovascular outcomes, as well as HDL cholesterol. In the setting of normal liver function and normal triglyceride levels, there is no problem with modest alcohol intake while taking cholesterol lowering drugs. In the setting of high triglyceride, care should be taken as alcohol intake can worsen triglyceride levels.
