A member asked:

If i drank a good amount of alcohol seven hours before a cholesterol test, are my results basically inaccurate?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Even a non-fasting specimen is okay for monitoring this important lab parameter. Alcohol doesn't affect it much. If you do drink to excess on a daily basis, you may ruin your liver. It's a miserable way to live and die, but your cholesterol will be low. Otherwise, drink sensibly and enjoy your life. Best wishes.
