See detailed answer: Your due date does not change during pregnancy. The first ultrasound (and you last menstrual period) is used to determine your due date. When your belly is measured it should be +/- 2 cm from the number of weeks that you are pregnant. Your doctor has ordered an ultasound because you were different by 3 cm, but this doesn't have to mean that anything is wrong, the ultrasound is the next step.
