A member asked:

What is likelihood of mult pulm nodules (two. 4mm and 7mm) being benign? on same ct bilat hilar nodes slightly enlarged & very mild mediastin enlarg

Probably OK: Nothing unusual about benign small pulmonary nodules. The larger one is a size that warrants a repeat exam in no more than a year. Hilar nodes may be normal or may be evidence of more serious disease. Tough decision. Mild mediastinal enlargement may require a more expert radiologist to review the scan. There is no such thing as mild mediastinal enlargement on a ct scan, only on a plain film.

See: Fleischner society criteria. You may need 3 month follow up if you are in a high risk group. See a pulmonologist. We have a lung nodule clinic. Pulmonologist sees patient and sends for biopsy if needed. Otherwise the lesions are followed.
