Finasteride: Finasteride ( Proscar and Propecia (finasteride) by merck) is a synthetic type ii 5?-reductase inhibitor. This enzyme converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (dht). Finasteride is approved for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and male pattern baldness (mpb).

Less DHT: Finasteride is a 5 Alpha reductase enzyme inhibitor, thus preventing further conversion of testosterone to dht. This is useful to treat benign prostatic hypertrophy and, as propecia, (finasteride) male pattern baldness.
