Lab Test: This is a clinical test to detect the presence of influenza a or b. Unlike rapid screening tests which take only 30 minutes but lack sensitivity and specificity, this test is approximately 80-90% accurate takes 2 hrs, and is moderate in price.

Influenza test: Htreference: this is a specific test that qualitatively tests for influenza a and influenza b. It uses immunoflourescence microscopy to look for antibodies that attach to antigens of the influenza virus and gives the lab technician a quantity of antibodies that are attached to the flu antigen. Basically it is an expensive way of telling if you have the flu virus or not.
