A member asked:

When i drink water or iced tea, i can feel it rise back up into my esophagus shortly after i've swallowed it. is there a medical reason for that?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe regurgitation: Regurgitating ingested food & liquid may reflect: 1) gerd in which stomach contents breach the lower esophageal sphincter barrier & re-enter the esophagus; 2) esophageal spasm (esp. Of cold liquids) or dysmotility (e.g. Achalasia) or esophageal diverticulum in which ingested material sits in the esophagus then regurgitate; 3) rumination or gas/bloat syndromes; 4) gastroparesis. Consider med eval.
