How long after?: The antibiotics need time to take effect - at least a few days. If it has been a few days maybe you need a different antibiotic. Lastly if you have mono - and not strep throat, the antibiotic will do nothing for you. All sore throats are not 'strep'.

Reexamination needed: It is possible that your strain is resistant to the antibiotic that was prescribed for you. You need to be reevaluated by the doctor that gave you the antibiotic to be sure it will help you or if you need a different type of treatment.

Maybe: Antibiotics have only a modest effect on the resolution of strep throat but it shouldn't worsen. If you throat is significantly worse, seek medical attention. A complication of of strep throat is an abscess and that would require more than an oral antibiotic.
