Odd comment: This sounds like an odd comment for a psychiatrist to make, unless s/he was being facetious in the context of your conversation. Or, frustrated for not being able to understand what is going on with you. I suggest asking your doctor why s/he is saying this. If not getting the help you need, you might want to get a second opinion from another psychiatrist.

Not neccessarily: A little more context is needed --- did you reject the psych's diagnosis or not accept it when s/he said it would take some time to figure out what was going on? Or maybe s/he is one of the psychs who thinks the diaignostic categories aren't very useful in teens. There are other possibilities. Best thing is to ask what it is that the psych is trying to get at.
