Orthopedics: This usually refers to orthopedic surgery. Reduction is when a displaced fracture or dislocation is put back in the proper position. Surgical means it required surgery to do it. Reduce and Fix: Surgical reduction means to use surgery to line up or put parts back into alignment (usually when talking about a fracture). Surgical fixation means to stabilize or treat the now aligned parts to prevent them from moving or coming out of alignment.
