Tendon Release : The diagnosis is when you are having your two tendons going to the thumb compressed or inflammed and being irritated by the movements in the sheet. The retinaculum above it will press doen on it. The surgery is simply to release the tendons from the retinaculum.

Release of sheath: Dequirvain's tenosynovitis is an inflammatory condition that affects two tendons that control the thumb, the extensor pollicis brevis and abductor pollicis longus tendons. Usually treated conservatively with a brace, steroid injection, and/or hand therapy. Surgery is a last resort but is often curative by decompressing the sheath of these tendons though freeing the tendons or excising scar tissu.
