Keep wound clean: After the procedure, follow your doctors orders to keep the wound clean and free of drainage and dead tissue. Clean daily with soap and water and apply ointment as prescribed.

Follow directions. : Your doctor likely gave you instructions on how to care for your nail after the procedure. Follow those directions (probably soaking, covering with bandaid, open-toed shoes and the like) and if you need a reminder, call the office with questions. They'd rather hear from you now than have to deal with a complication later.
