It sounds that you had some type of surgical procedure to remove the borders of your toenail. A common technique used by podiatrist is using phenol and alcohol. What you are describing does not happen very often from this procedure. It’s possible you developed an infection during the postop care seek medical attention family doctor or podiatrist for diagnosis and treatment
