Depends: If you care for them, dentures can last a very long time. They do need periodic evaluation by a dentist and may need relining as the bone that supports them can change in form and the acrylic material needs to fit the bone intimately for the best fit.

Variable: Certainly if you are chewing against a lower denture, they will not wear down as fast as if you had natural or crowned teeth on the bottom. But most improtantly is the fit against the tissue . Usually after a few years this changes and you need a reloine or a new denture. If you are a grinder, you will wear them faster. If you eat rough, hard gritty foods, faster wear. Typically 5 years is average.

Take care of them: Remember that since you can take dentures out you need to protect them outside your mouth too. I have on many occasions seen dentures broken or lost because of how they were handled once removed.

Depends on You: I have seen them last from a matter of years to forty or more years. Certainly it wouldn't be unusual for them to last five to ten years.

Forever or .........: If they are out of your mouth, they can last forever. In your mouth, it depends on many factors, mostly your bite and how you use them. Regardless, it is important that anyone who wears dentures still continue to see their dentist every 6 months to 1 year to adjust\reline them as necessary and examine their soft tissues for bone loss, gingival health and to check for lesions such as cancer.
