Perhaps a variant: Your description leads me to wonder if, in your case, the bell's palsy was due to "herpes zoster oticus" or ramsey-hunt syndrome. You may have possessed a tell-tail eruption if your doctor looked into your ear. Discuss with your neurologist, and decide upon an approach.
