A member asked:

I have bells palsy in the right side of my face for 3 months today, and i woke up this morning and started feeling my tongue numb and the left side of my face a bit numb and left ear pain. is that normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

There is good evidence that Bell's palsy can be secondary to herpes infections. Typically about 92.5% fully resolve, and unusual that it will recur on the original side or even the opposite. Not fully clear if this is a new facial nerve inflammation, but in view of your history, do have your doctor check this out. Early treatment may be indicated.
