A Better Option: After your ring is in for three weeks, rather than remove it and leave it out, just replace it then, and leave your new ring in for another three weeks. That way, you delay your period and still have the best contraceptive effect.

Probably: The longer you leave the ring in- beyond the recommended 21 days- the more chance the hormone will wear out and then you are not protected from pregnancy. However, there usually is enough hormone in the anuvaring to last 28 days, so keeping one in for 28 days, then replacing it that same day with a new one, usually works fine, though you may have some spotting later that second month.
