Aging of kidney: When a kidney ages, it acquires a condition called chronic kidney disease and appears bright on ultrasound. This usually appears in both kidneys, however, sometimes, a kidney appears bright before the other for different reasons e.g. If it has less good blood flow due to extra cholesterol plaques in blood vessels. Usually that kidney is a little smaller. Check your blood and urinalysis, though.
