It's possible: There is typically a lot of redundancy in hernia repair, so if one suture tore through the tissue, there should be others to take the load. Also, if mesh was used, this should overlap the hernia by enough that a recurrence should be avoided. Having said that, a strong cough could potentially cause the whole repair to fail. See your surgeon for an exam to be sure. Best of luck.

Yes: That is why i always inquires out constipation and chronic cough. Anything that increases the abdominal pressure can lead to a recurrence.
