It depends: What happens during a sex therapy session depends on what the problem is. Most of what happens is discussion. Under very strict guidelines, a licensed sex therapist can enlist the services of a sexual surrogate for "hands on therapy" but this is very rare. Sometimes the therapist will ask for help from a medical doctor if medication might be useful.
