A member asked:

The atkins diet is definitely unhealthy, are there any other fad diets that actually work?

Fad diets: Fad diets are unhealthy. A well researched system of lower fat, modest carbohydrate, high vegetable, quality protein, and vitamin sufficient foods eaten in small and frequent quantities, is certainly not mainstream. I would medically support exploring ways to make your personal diet healthier, even if the changes seem small. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Diets: Fad diets are marketing ploys to promote a concept that has more to do with making money than with a well-balanced diet that promotes long-term compliance conducive with a healthy lifestyle. Many of these diets are also low calorie diets. A low calorie diet is a diet that provides extremely low calories in order to produce significant weight loss. They can be unbalanced and cause problems.
