Idiopathic: Idiopathic is a term doctors use when there isn't a clear-cut explanation for a patient's disease. Sometimes diabetes can cause neuropathy, especially when it is poorly controlled. Ask your doctor if your diabetes is the problem. Medications like Neurontin and Lyrica (pregabalin) can help the symptoms of neuropathy, and may be helpful in controlling anxiety so ask about these too.

No known cause : The word idiopathic should only be used when the symptom or condition, in your case neuropathy, is not associated with a disease known to cause that symptom or condition. For example neuropathy is idiopathic when it is not associated with diabetes or other diseases known to cause nerve damage. Talk to your diabetes doctor about this and your anxiety.
