Go to the ER: The differential can be anything from just swelling from tendon/ligament strain to torn/ruptured ligament or cartilage. You need to be evaluated and likely imaged at an er or urgent care.

Knee pain: At the very least, you have a sprain/strain of the knee.First do rest, ice ( 20 min every 4-6 hours ) , compression ( ace bandage ) , evevation ( higher then the level of your heart ).If pain, swelling, limited range of motion persists, see your doctor.
