Potential problem: Acute sports injuries can result in anything from mild sprains to serious injuries to the structures within your knee joint. Front line treatment follows the "rice" protocol- rest, ice, compression, and elevation. An orthopaedic evaluation would be recommended if you remain unable to bend your knee.

Hard to say.: It may be just a sprain, or a more serious ligament tear, or it could be a meniscus injury, just to name a couple of possibilities. See a sports medicine orthopedic knee surgeon, for an accurate evaluation.
