Could be infection: It is difficult to tell exactly what you have due to limited info, but trauma, tendinitis, phlebitis (inflammation in vein) can cause such symptoms. Infection (cellulitis) is more of a concern here. If you recently had iv/blood draw, bug bite, scratched by cat/dog/rose thorn etc...And now have swollen hand, please consult doc for eval. Sorry i can't tell for sure. Consult doc. Good luck.
