Option: Try with plenty of water and try to swallow but if you have been chewing it and its working for you than keep taking it there is not much literature on that thanks.

Do not chew it: Wellbutrin (bupropion) xl is an extended release preparation and should be swallowed whole. It is formulated to release slowly and chewing destroys this mechanism. Discuss this with your doctor to see if another formulation of the medication will be easier for you to swallow.

Wellbutrin (bupropion): Not sure what other meds. Your doctor has tried, or what the wellbutrin (bupropion) is prescribed for, but there are alternative meds. That can be in liquid or chewable forms or even as skin patch. Worth discussing with your prescribing doc.

Wellbutrin (bupropion): Please refer to my previous answer. Generally, slow or extended release pills are to be taken whole, not chewed or split or crushed.
