Yes: When you have alzheimers, there is difficulty or an inability to form a new memory and you have to work harder to figure things out. This can be stressful and can lead to anxiety. The anxiety is a normal reaction to a problem. The way to treat this is to decrease stress and increase support for the person. Medicines for anxiety are less likely to be helpful than behavioral interventions.

Common: I've seen anxiety as a common symptom of ad. It never has the depth that anxiety has in younger patients i.e. To explore psychosocial factors and give simple medication treatments. It is most likely a CNS connection but look at vascular and other organ systems for imbalance. Some older people are more affected by the somatic. Consider depresson and psychotic features. Treat symptoms, low doses.
