Possible: Try making a chicken wing like motion and lifting the shoulder up. If you can not lift it the first 20 degrees, you may have torn the suprapsinatus tendon which is commonly injured. However, you might just have a tendonitiis if you don't remember a trauma. If you can lift it 20 degrees but not further, you may have injured another rotator cuff muscle. See a family dr or sports dr for further eval.
