Can't predict: A healthy skin barrier is vital as it will protect invasion by common infections - bacteria, fungal, viral. Eczema herpeticum is when the hsv (cold sore) virus invades the skin because of the underlying eczema (causing breaks in this skin barrier). It is a serious condition - get immediate medical help. Control the eczema and avoid anyone with cold sores to prevent recurrence.
