Difficult for sure: Neurofibromas are fleshy and soft tumors that can look a lot like lipomas. Generally, lipomas are deeper under the skin, larger, and have a more broad-based appearance, where neurofibromas are more superficial, smaller, soft bumps on the skin. Usually we only know for sure when we remove them.
