Parasthesia: Medically speaking, we call any nerve sensation a parasthesia. It can be your nerve that innervates your foot that may be irritated for some reason. It can be diagnosed more definitively with a test called emg. I would suggest doing more exercise and maybe taking some minerals such as magnesium and calcium, a multi vitamin may help as well. If it continues to be a problem, see a neurologist.

It is likely nerves.: The location and cause of the electric sensation is important. The most common causes of that sensation include tarsal tunnel syndrome and morton's neuroma. Disease states such as diabetes can affect the nerves in the feet as well. It is important to have a check up to evaluate your general health and rule out systemic conditions first before focusing on more specific causes.
