Seek therapy: Chronic prenatal anxiety exposes a fetus to excess glucocorticoids, which may cause enduring neuroendocrine changes. The effects on stress-related behavior, emotions, and cognitive abilities in offspring from infancy through adulthood are well-documented, as are the increased risks of premature labor, low birthweight & low Apgar scores. Ask your OB to refer you to a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapist.

Many sources: Anxiety can come from chemical imbalances, a side effect of medications, external stressors, too much change in too short a period of time, and other areas. I would say go to a reputable psychotherapist immediately and talk about what anxiety means to YOU.
