Diabetes: The urine should be totally clear -- no blood, no pus, no jaundice, no sugar, no protein. About the only time sugar will ever be seen in the urine is if a diabetic has blood sugars wildly out of control. This may cause the kidneys to take over and start dumping sugar out of the body by means of putting the extra into the urine -- very abnormal!

See below: Glucose in urine also known as 'glycosuria' is mostly seen in diabetes mellitus with elevated blood sugar. Very very rarely ( 1 in 1000 or even less) it is seen in a defect of kidney known as fanconi syndrome.
