A member asked:

What does it mean to have sugar in the urine but not the blood?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Timing: Urine is collected over hours in the bladder. If a patient with diabetes has sugar in the urine that means that blood sugar control from over a few to several hours back was likely high. However, it doesn't say anything for the current situation where blood sugar could have normalized in the meantime. If a diagnosis of diabetes hasn't been made, it should be considered.
