Adrenocorticotropic : Acth is adrenocorticotropic hormone that is normally produced in the pituitary gland. Acth is part of a complex feedback system that regulates the production of hormones by the adrenal glands. The level of plasma acth can give clues to a doctor when something goes wrong with this system. Acth is also seen outside of this system in cases of certain types of tumors and other rare situations.
