What is plasma acth?

Pituitary hormone: Hi. ACTH is a hormone from the pituitary gland that travels by the bloodstream to the adrenal glands and stimulates cortisol production (and to a lesser extent, aldosterone). The cortisol feeds back to the pituitary to regulate ACTH release (also effects on hypothalamic CRH, but we'll keep it simple). ACTH positive feedforward & cortisol negative feedback works beautifully. Diseases can affect it.
